Montana Institutional Nursing Incentive Program (MINIP)
Program Summary
The Montana Institutional Nursing Incentive Program (MINIP) is a loan reimbursement program for individuals licensed to practice as a registered professional nurse pursuant to 20-26-1511 MCA and currently employed as a registered professional nurse by either the Montana state prison or the Montana state hospital. The Board of Regents adopted Policy 940.15, Institutional Nursing Incentive Program, to implement the provisions of 20-26-1511 MCA.
Program applications and awards are managed via the Award Montana portal, Montana's centralized online hub for professional student exchange programs, loan repayment, and undergraduate scholarship and waiver programs. Applications are reviewed and considered once each year. Note the application dates listed below.
Eligibility Requirements
- Prospective applicants must be licensed to practice as a registered professional nurse
- Currently employed as a registered professional nurse by either the Montana state prison or the Montana state hospital
- Loan balance for nursing education of at least $1,000
- Read MCA 20-26-1511 and BOR Policy 940.15 for further specific details such as how reimbursements will be dispersed.
