What to do in case of work injury or illness

Emergency Actions

Our first goal following an injury is to ensure you are safe and immediate medical needs are addressed.  Employees should be familiar with their department and campus emergency procedures and with workers’ compensation practices. If in doubt, activate Emergency Medical Services by dialing 911.

Campus Personnel

Each campus and many departments have specific injury and emergency plans & procedures that campus personnel should be familiar with and follow in the event of an emergency.

For more information contact your supervisor, or:

All injuries should be reported to your supervisor immediately. As soon as practical after emergency medical needs have been addressed, complete and submit a First Report of Injury (FROI).   Contact your campus claim coordinator  if you have questions or need assistance.  Eligibility  for workers compensation benefits requires than an occupational injury or disease be reported to the employer and a FROI  submitted within  MT Workers' compensation statutory timelines.   Protect your eligibility to benefits By Submitting a Timely FROI!
