NOTICE OF INTENT Approval of Proposal to Restructure the Present Master of Arts Degree in English (Linguistics Option) into a Master of Arts Degree in Linguistics; The University of Montana-Missoula
THAT: The Board of Regents of Higher Education authorizes The University of Montana-Missoula to restructure the present Master of Arts Degree in English (Linguistics Option) into a Master of Arts Degree in Linguistics. The requirements of the program remain the same, with the following single exception: One seminar from English 520, 521, or 522 will no longer be required. Students will now be required to take three (instead of two) seminars from Linguistics 570.
EXPLANATION: Linguistics was established as a unit in September 1997. The Linguistics Program no longer relies on the guidelines and requirements of other departments to offer the Master of Arts.
