These minutes were approved unanimously at the January 16-17, 2003 meeting in Missoula, MT

 

 

THURSDAY, JANUARY 9, 2003

 

ROLL CALL

 

The Full Board Convened at 10:00 a.m. - Roll Call indicated a Quorum Present  

 

Regents Present: Richard Roehm Chairman, Lynn Morrison-Hamilton Vice-Chair, Christian Hur, Ed Jasmin, John Mercer, Mark Semmens, Margie Thompson, and Commissioner Richard Crofts ex officio

 

Regents Absent:  Governor Judy Martz ex officio, and Superintendent of Public Instruction Linda McCulloch ex officio

 

The Board met for the purpose of evaluating candidates for Interim Commissioner.  It was the determination of the Chair that the demands of individual privacy exceeded the merits of public disclosure with regard to these matters and he therefore closed this portion of the meeting as allowed by MCA 2-3-203. 

 

The Board convened in Executive Session at 10:05 a.m.

 

The Board adjourned from Executive Session at 12:10 p.m.

 

The Board reconvened at 1:30 in open session.

 

Chairman Roehm explained that the Board had convened at 10:00 a.m. and went immediately into Executive Session.  No decisions were made during that session.  They then broke for lunch.  He indicated he would entertain a motion for the position of Interim Commissioner at that time.

 

   Regent Hamilton Moved approval to hire Carrol Krause as the Interim Commissioner.

*   Motion Approved on 6-1 vote with Regent Mercer dissenting.

With no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned at 1:34 p.m.
