ITEM 128-1506-R0705  Authorization to convert the present Associate of Applied Science Degree in Office Technology, Medical Assistant Option to an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Medical Assistant in the Department of Health Programs; Montana Tech of The University of Montana

THAT: The Board of Regents of Higher Education authorizes Montana Tech of the University of Montana to convert the present Associate of Applied Science Degree in Office Technology, Medical Assistant Option to an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Medical Assistant in the Department of Health Programs.

EXPLANATION: Montana Tech of The University of Montana College of Technology maintains a commitment to be responsive to the needs of the ever-changing economy and environment. This program advances that mission by staying current and allowing students the opportunity to become employable in the health care industry. The present Associate of Applied Science Degree in Medical Office Technology Medical Assistant Option within the Business Department does not support the industry standard for offering a clinically based degree as a stand-alone program.
