ITEM 124-106-R0904: Approval for the creation of the Montana University System Boys and Girls Club Scholarship.


THAT: The Montana Board of Regents of Higher Education approves the creation of the Boys and Girls Club Scholarship. Tuition and registration fee will be waived to those receiving the scholarship. Recipients would be eligible to utilize the scholarship at any campus of the Montana University system or Dawson, Flathead Valley, and Miles community college for a maximum of 8 semesters. The scholarship is renewable provided the student maintains academic progress and demonstrates progress toward a degree.

EXPLANATION: The Montana Boys and Girls Clubs have established criteria for selecting recipients based on leadership qualities and service. Scholarship recipient must be a graduating Montana high school senior who will be enrolling in an eligible MUS school for fall semester. Family income of the recipient may not exceed $50,000 per year, unless unusual circumstances warrant exception. The Montana Guaranteed Student Loan Program will administer the scholarship program.
