This authority request is for an amount greater than $150,000, which requires the following additional information:

 

(a) Project Description:

The work performed under this authority encompasses the construction of lab facilities for research and faculty offices in the Skaggs Building for Pharmacy.

This project will be financed with a NIH matching grant, bonds to be re-paid with indirect costs and other university unrestricted funds, and private donations.

 

(c) Programs Served, Enrollment Data, Projected Enrollments:

The work completed under this authority is for instructional and research activities in the School of Pharmacy. The new space will support the expanding programs in biomedical research as well as graduate education and professional program development.  

Biomedical research supported by grants from outside Montana represents a major economic enterprise as well as the opportunity for employment for graduates of Montana's public schools and universities. Significant indirect cost monies also will return to the University through increased research activities. The School of Pharmacy estimates grant funding will reach $25.0 million by 2009 if the new facility is built.

 

(d) Space Utilization Data:

The work completed under this authority will provide approximately 59,000 square feet of new lab/office space that is not currently available on campus.

(f) Projected O&M Costs and Proposed Funding Sources:

O&M costs for the research facilities are projected to be $481,800 for the first full year of operation in FY 2007. No state funds will be used in supporting the O&M costs.
