ITEM 123-1009-R0504    Deferred Maintenance Projects; The University of Montana-Missoula

THAT: Consistent with the provisions of MCA 18-2-102, the Board of Regents of Higher Education authorizes The University of Montana-Missoula to expend 3 million dollars to address deferred maintenance and code issues on the Missoula campus. This work will be funded with Series I 2004 Refunding and Facilities Improvement Revenue Bonds described in BOR Item 122-1015-R0304.

EXPLANATION: Deferred maintenance continues to be a serious problem for the campus. Bond proceeds of $1.5 million; combined with cash savings from the refunding of the 1993 bonds, provide an opportunity for the University to address nearly $3.0 million in repairs and renovations on campus.  The following is the preliminary list of projects. These projects are intended to address deferred maintenance, code, ADA, general repairs and replacements and renovation needs. The projects will be adjusted or modified as needs are further refined and detailed estimates and bid prices become available. The following projects list requires Regent's approval for projects that exceed $150,000. The University of Montana will utilize unallocated General Spending Authority Granted to The University of Montana from the 58th Legislature for these projects.
