ITEM 119-1901-R0503    Approval to convert the currently approved Associate of Applied Science program in Practical Nursing to a Certificate Program in Practical Nursing and establish an Associate of Science Degree leading to licensure as a Registered Nurse; The University of Montana-Helena College of Technology

THAT: The Board of Regents of Higher Education authorizes The University of Montana-Helena College of Technology to offer an Associate of Science degree in Nursing leading to licensure as a Registered Nurse, and a Certificate in Practical Nursing.

EXPLANATION: This proposal will allow The University of Montana-Helena College of Technology to meet the demand in Helena for Associate degree-prepared Registered Nurses and continue to meet the need for Licensed Practical Nurses.

Currently, The University of Montana-Helena College of Technology (UM-HCT) offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in Practical Nursing, leading to licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (AAS-PN). This proposal would require a change from the AAS-PN to a Certificate-PN.
