Policy - Procedure for Over Expending Budget

Constitutional authority:

The government and control of the Montana university system is vested in a board of regents of higher education which shall have full power, responsibility and authority to supervise, coordinate, manage and control the Montana university system (Article X, Section 9(2)(a), Montana Constitution).

Board Policy:

A budgeted item may not be over expended without the express prior approval of the board. The Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education shall bring to the attention of the board at each meeting any item that has over expended budget in violation of this policy.
