ITEM 116-1003-R0702    Approval of Proposal to Create an Institute for Gerontology Education; The University of Montana-Missoula


THAT: The Board of Regents of Higher Education authorizes The University of Montana to create an Institute for Gerontology Education.

EXPLANATION: The proposed Institute for Gerontology Education will provide a framework for the faculty, students, and administrators at The University of Montana to develop, implement, and maintain programs with a gerontologic focus. The study of aging in the population represents a critical area for liberal arts and professional programs. The proposed institute will provide support for gerontology education for professionals throughout the State. It will focus on education, community, and service projects and will collaborate with other institutions of higher education throughout the State.
