ITEM 111-1003-R0501   Approval of Proposal to Reorganize the Department of Management in the School of Business Administration into the Department of Management and Marketing and the Department of Information Systems and Technology; The University of Montana-Missoula

 

THAT: The Board of Regents of Higher Education authorizes The University of Montana-Missoula to reorganize the Department of Management in the School of Business Administration into the Department of Management and Marketing and the Department of Information Systems and Technology.

 

EXPLANATION: Growth in undergraduate business student enrollment of 37.4 percent from fall 1995 to fall 2000 and an explosive enrollment growth of almost 600 percent in the Schools Information Systems option have resulted in a wide span of control and range of responsibilities. Reorganization will allow for two department chairs and will provide far more effective and efficient administration and service to students, faculty, and other constituencies.
