ITEM 110-2003-R0101 Authorization to Renovate Existing Space in Leon Johnson Hall; Montana State University - Bozeman
THAT: Consistent with the provisions of MCA 18-2-102, the Board of Regents of Higher Education authorizes Montana State University - Bozeman to renovate a portion of Leon Johnson Hall to accommodate a cell biology research laboratory for faculty, research technicians and graduate students. The estimated cost for this project is $300,000.
EXPLANATION:
- The Molecular Motor/Cell Biology research is currently housed in Gaines Hall, on the
MSU Bozeman campus. The research requires frequent interaction with colleagues, performing
similar research in Leon Johnson Hall, and plans to vacate Gaines Hall and move to
Leon Johnson Hall to facilitate this interaction.
- This project will renovate space for labs in Leon Johnson Hall by installing plumbing,
mechanical and electrical systems to support the research, and reconfiguring existing
space to meet new research needs.
- This project will be financed with overhead revenues from research grants and will
result in no new programs.
- This project requires the authorization of the Board of Regents and the consent of the Governor.
