ITEM 110-1501-R0301  Professor Emeritus Status for Professor Daniel J. Bradley; Montana Tech of The University of Montana

 

THAT: Upon the occasion of the retirement of Professor Daniel J. Bradley from the faculty of Montana Tech of The University of Montana, the faculty wishes to express its appreciation of his years of dedicated and valued service to the College, the Department of Petroleum Engineering, and the State of Montana by recommending that the rank of Professor Emeritus be conferred upon him by the Board of Regents of the Montana University System.

 

EXPLANATION: Dan Bradley was born in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. He earned his B.S. and Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Michigan State University in 1973 and 1977, respectively. He also received a B.S. from Montana Tech in 1982 and an M.S. from the University of Tulsa in 1983, both degrees in Petroleum Engineering. He joined the faculty of Montana College of Mineral Science & Technology in 1979 as Assistant Professor. 

At Montana Tech, Professor Bradley served as the Director of International Programs from 1987-1989; Head of the Petroleum Department from 1989-1991; Dean of Engineering from 1991-1998, and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Research from 1998 until his retirement in February 2001.

Professor Bradley is an outstanding teacher who takes great interest and pride in his students. His knowledge and insight in his field are invaluable and have been shared unselfishly with his many students and colleagues through the years. In addition to his outstanding service to students, Professor Bradley has been extremely active in professional societies. He is a member of American Chemical Society, Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), and American Society of Engineering Education. Professor Bradley serves as a director on the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (2000-2003), the SPE Education and Accreditation Committee, and the SPE Registration and Professional Committee. He is a registered Professional Engineer with the State of Montana.
