ITEM 108-2702-R0900������ Authorization to Confer the Title of Professor of History Emeritus upon Dr. James Friguglietti; Montana State University-Billings

 

����������� WHEREAS, Professor James Friguglietti has completed a distinguished teaching career of thirty-four years, including twenty-four at Montana State University-Billings, formerly Eastern Montana College;

 

����������� WHEREAS, Professor Friguglietti has received both the Outstanding Teacher and Outstanding Scholar Awards;

 

����������� WHEREAS, he has presented many papers and served as commentator at scholarly conferences held in the United States and abroad, including England, France, and Australia;

 

����������� WHEREAS, he has published numerous articles and book reviews in his field of modern European history, especially the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Era;

 

����������� WHEREAS, he is an active member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Historical Association, the Society for French Historical Studies, the Western Society for French History, and Phi Alpha Theta;

 

����������� WHEREAS, he has received recognition through grants and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities for research and study abroad as well as for participation in summer institutes in this country;

 

����������� WHEREAS, he has served Eastern Montana College and Montana State University-Billings as a member of the Academic Senate, University Rank and Tenure Committee, Graduate Committee, and Travel Committee;

 

����������� WHEREAS, he has acted as advisor to student organizations such as the Union Activities Board and The Retort;

 

����������� AND WHEREAS, Montana State University-Billings wishes to honor Professor James Friguglietti for his outstanding service to education and his discipline;

 

����������� THEREFORE, the Board of Regents of Higher Education, on the recommendation of the Chancellor of Montana State University-Billings, confers upon Dr. James Friguglietti the title of Professor of History Emeritus, with all the rights, privileges, and responsibilities pertaining thereto.
