RE: Nominations to the Student Loan Advisory Council

 DATE: September 21, 2000

There are two vacancies on the Student Loan Advisory Council, one for a representative from the lender community and one from the community colleges.

It is my recommendation that Mike McKendrick be appointed from U.S. Bank to represent the lender community, effective October 1, 2000 for a two year term ending December 31, 2002. It is also my recommendation that Bonnie Whitehouse, Financial Aid Director at Flathead Valley Community College, be appointed to represent the community colleges, effective October 1, 2000 for a three year term ending December 31, 2003.

Michael McKendrick has been with U.S. Bank as a Regional Market Manager since 1998. Prior to joining U.S. Bank, he worked for Wells Fargo Bank for four years and worked in the Financial Aid and Financial Services offices of Brigham Young University for six years. Mr. McKendrick graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree and Masters of Public Administration from Brigham Young University. In the past he has served as the vice president of Utah Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, several Rocky Mountain Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators Conference committees and currently serves as the Loan Program Dean for Summer Institute.

Bonnie Whitehouse is the Financial Aid Director at Flathead Valley Community College. She has been with Flathead Valley Community College for over 17 years and is an active participant in the Montana Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators. Ms. Whitehouse is a graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education and a Master's Degree in Early Childhood and Adult Education.
