ITEM 103-1003-R0599 Miscellaneous Improvements to Lakeside Lab, Flathead Lake Biological Station; The University of Montana-Missoula
THAT: Consistent with the provisions of MCA 18-2-102, the Board of Regents of the Montana University System authorizes The University of Montana to implement steps necessary to make miscellaneous improvements to the Lakeside Lab at the Flathead Lake Biological Station. Funding for this project in the amount of $180,000 will come from Student Building Fees and unrestricted funds available for this purpose.
EXPLANATION: This project was started in 1994 with a Student Building Fee award of $30,000 to renovate an existing out-building into a classroom/lab facility. An additional $30,000 in Student Building Fees was used in 1996 to stabilize the foundation and to create a basement for this facility. The University of Montana is seeking incremental authority for an additional $25,000 in 1999 and $95,000 in 2000. This authority would allow the University to finish the work necessary to make this a functional instructional facility. Work will include finishing the basement space, a new heating system, exterior repairs, painting, and replacement of siding and windows.
