Process for selecting an Interim Commissioner

(A)       The Chair will send correspondence to principal OCHE staff and campus leaders asking for assistance in soliciting nominations or expressions of interest for the position of interim commissioner.

(B)       The Chair will issue a press release informing the public of the Board�s willingness to receive nominations or expressions of interest for the position of interim commissioner.

(C)       Nominees or applicants will be informed that the pay and benefits for the interim commissioner will be negotiable before appointment.

(D)       Nominees or applicants will be informed that moving and other travel expenses associated with establishing a residence in or near Helena will be paid.

(E)       The chair will attempt to assemble a list of at least three willing candidates for consideration by the full Board.

(F)       The Board will meet to consider the candidates at its regular meeting in January, 2003, or at an earlier publicly announced special meeting if the Chair concludes that he has a sufficient number of willing candidates for Board consideration.

(G)      The privacy of the candidates will be protected, and discussion regarding their personal characteristics will be conducted in executive session, but nomination and voting on any candidate will be conducted publicly.���������

(H)       Nominees or applicants will be informed that the term will be for a period of six months unless otherwise extended by the Board of Regents and agreed to by the interim commissioner.
