Credit for participation in Student Government

Currently there are only 2 units of the Montana University System giving credit recognition to the elected student leaders of their respective campus for participation in student government.  It is the wish of the Montana Associated Students to have a 1 credit participation course common in numbering amongst the Montana University System units.  Proposed as follows:

SGOV 151 for elected senators (first year)

SGOV 161 for elected senators (second year)

SGOV 171 for elected senators (third year)

SGOV 181 for elected senators (fourth year)

SGOV 251 for elected stipend positions (first year)

SGOV 261 for elected stipend positions (second year)

SGOV 351 for elected presidents or vice-presidents (first year)

SGOV 361 for elected presidents or vice-presidents (second year)

**Maximum credit would be 4 total credits from these aforementioned courses.**

Course description would read as a “participation course” with job description or duties outlined in the campus individual student government constitution and/or bylaws.
