ITEM 115-1002-R0502��������������� Authorization for Replacement of Parking Lot, Lommasson Center; The University of Montana-Missoula

 

THAT:�������������������������������������� Consistent with the provisions of MCA 18-2-102, the Board of Regents of Higher Education authorizes The University of Montana-Missoula to replace the parking lot at the Lommasson Center, in the amount of $175,000.

 

EXPLANATION:����������������������� The existing parking lot adjacent to the Lommasson Center has deteriorated beyond repair and requires replacement.� The reconfiguration of this lot will better accommodate the various facilities that it serves.

 

The work performed under this authority encompasses the replacement of an existing parking lot adjacent to the Lommasson Center, and includes paving, curbs, signage, striping, lighting, landscaping, storm drainage systems, access drives, and associated pedestrian sidewalks.� This project addresses maintenance and replacement needs for existing surface parking facilities and does not significantly change the number or location of existing parking spaces.

 

Parking system revenues and unrestricted funds will finance this project.� Cost estimates follow:

The Parking Operations Account provides operation and maintenance costs for all surface parking facilities.  New and replacement surface parking facilities will achieve a forty-year life with proper periodic maintenance, including annual re-striping, five-year re-coating, and twenty-year re-surfacing (two full cycles).
