ITEM 111-2851-R0501������ Approval of Proposal to Add an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Dental Hygiene; Montana State University-Great Falls College of Technology

 

THAT:                                   The Board of Regents of Higher Education authorizes Montana State University-Great Falls College of Technology to award an Associate of Applied Science degree to any student who completes the required Dental Hygiene curriculum.

 

EXPLANATION:����������������� Dental hygienists are licensed dental health care professionals who specialize in periodontal therapy and oral health education.� As part of the dental health team in private practice and community settings, dental hygienists assist dentists by conducting oral health assessments, treating periodontal disease, and providing follow-up care. They also provide a variety of preventive services, as well as nutrition counseling and community education.�

 

In requesting authorization to offer this program, Montana State University-Great Falls College of Technology responds to the urgent need for dental hygienists in Montana, as well as the need for high-skill, well-compensated career opportunities in this state.  ATTACHMENT
