ITEM 107-1009-R0500������ Resolution Concerning the Retirement of Charles Allen, Professor of Psychology, College of Arts and Sciences; The University of Montana-Missoula

 

THAT:����������������������������������� Charles Allen, Professor of Psychology, in his thirty-fourth year of dedicated service to The University of Montana, has merited the commendation of the Board of Regents of the Montana University System, and has earned the title of Professor of Psychology Emeritus.

 

EXPLANATION:����������������� Professor Charles Allen earned his Ph.D. degree in 1963 from Ohio State University.� Upon graduation, Professor Allen was awarded a two-year postdoctoral fellowship by the National Institute of Mental Health.� He served this fellowship at Indiana State University and at Pennsylvania State University.� Professor Allen joined The University of Montana in 1965 and has spent his entire career here.

 

Professor Allen�s long tenure has been marked with responsible service to the University, the Department of Psychology, and to his students.� Throughout his career, Professor Allen put the welfare of the students on top of his priority list.� He has always been a meticulous instructor who spent whatever time and effort was needed in preparation.� His attention and contribution to departmental concerns, active advising role with departmental and general major students, and his service on departmental and campus-wide committees have made evident his sincere interest in offering quality educational opportunities for our students. 

For these accomplishments and in recognition of Professor Allen�s meritorious service, the Department of Psychology recommends Professor Charles Allen for Emeritus status.
