The first of three
annual View Days was conducted on Friday, October 20. View Days bring prospective students to campus and allow them to
visit classes, talk with advisors, obtain a comprehensive overview of DCC
programs and services, and to tour the campus.
·
Don Kettner, DCC
President Emeritus, was appointed by Governor Racicot to the Montana Commission
on Community Service. This 15-member
commission administers $3.5 million for such programs as the College Campus
Compact, Ameri-Corps, the National Senior Citizens Corps, and the Learn &
Service America Corps.
·
The 2nd
Annual Student/Staff Softball Game and Barbecue was held on Friday, October 13th. The staff held off a serious onslaught by
the students in the closing innings to secure the win. This annual activity helps create and
promote a strong social connection between students and staff – a hallmark
characteristic of DCC.
·
On October 12, the
Montana Association of College Registrars and Admissions Officers (MACRAO) met
on campus.
·
The Drama and Music
students conducted a coffee tasting and chamber concert in late October. A multitude of coffees and desserts were
sampled accompanied by performances of the chorus, instrumental artists,
comics, and servers.
·
Law Enforcement
students cooperated with the Glendive Police Department in hosting a Halloween
Party for area children at the Student Center.
·
A series of culinary
workshops, taught at the Dawson County High School Home Economics classroom,
were initiated this fall as part of DCC’s Community Service Program.
