Affordability Taskforce

The Board of Regents and the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education have appointed an Affordability Taskforce to meet during the 2011-12 academic year.  The Taskforce is charged with:

  1. Utilizing data to recommend strategies for improving affordability in the MUS;
  2. Recommending approaches for improving communication and outreach about affordability of higher education in Montana; and
  3. Recommending policies to facilitate a more coordinated system of financial aid and services.

The following bullets are examples of issues to be addressed by the Taskforce:

  1. Increase system-wide use and understanding of financial aid information
  2. Provide analysis and information on increasing student loan amounts, as well as possible reductions to Pell grants
  3. Analyze the cost of attendance and improve communication strategies
  4. Recommend process and/or policy changes for setting tuition in the MUS
  5. Improve the affordability portion of the MUS Strategic Plan
  6. Help shape the role of the Student Financial Services in OCHE’s ARSA division
