Credit by Examination
Campuses of the Montana University System and the Community Colleges afford students the opportunity to earn credit by examination through national testing programs such as Advanced Placement (AP), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST), and a limited number of departmental examinations.
The specific scores required for AP and CLEP and the amount of credit possible for these credit by examination programs are outlined on the matrices below. Matrices are organized by type of test (AP or CLEP) and name of campus. Students seeking additional information should consult their academic advisor or officials in the Offices of Admissions or Registrar on their respective campuses. For departmental examinations, students should contact the academic department head on their campuses.
