RE: Level II Submission Items
Several new
academic programs or changes were proposed by the campuses of the Montana
University System, under the Level II approval process authorized by the Montana
Board of Regents. All of the proposed programs are listed in the academic program
plans submitted by the campuses. The Level II proposals are being sent to you,
for your review and approval. Please give me your feedback and/or consent,
in e-mail form, by July 5, 2006.
Montana
State University-Bozeman:
- ITEM
132-2003-R0706: Montana State University-Bozeman requested permission to offer a
minor in Genetics.
Montana
State University-Billings:
- ITEM
132-2701-R0706: Montana State University-Billings asked for authority to award a
Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice.
- ITEM
132-2702-R0706: Montana State University-Billings requested permission to offer a
Bachelor of Science degree in General Science.
- ITEM
132-2703-R0706: Montana State University-Billings asked for authority to offer a
Bachelor of Science degree in General Science with a Teaching option.
- ITEM
132-2704-R0706: Montana State University-Billings College of Technology requested
permission to make the Associate of Applied Science degree in Application
Development a “permanent” part of its degree and program offerings. That
degree was approved, on a two-year, temporary basis in May 2004. In its
request, MSU-Billings asked that the name of the degree be Computer
Programming and Application Development.

Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a General
Business option. MSU-Billings also asked for authority to offer the new
option on-line.

double major in Reading and Elementary or Secondary Education.

permission to offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech, Language and
Hearing.

Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, with both a Teaching and
Non-teaching option.

University of Montana-Missoula:

132-1001-R0706: The University of Montana-Missoula asked for authority to offer a
Bachelor of Science degree in Restoration Ecology.
- ITEM
132-1002-R0706: The University of Montana-Missoula requested permission to
establish a Center for Biomolecular Structure and Dynamics.

132-1003-R0706: The University of Montana-Missoula asked for permission to form a
School of Public and Community Health Sciences in the College of Health Professions and Biomedical Sciences.

The Montana Safe Schools Center.

132-1005-R0706: The University of Montana-Missoula requested permission to change
the status of its Media Arts program to a Department of Media Arts.
Montana Tech of The University of Montana:

asked for authority to change the name of the following Certificates to
Certificates of Applied Science: Bookkeeping, Medical Receptionist,
Network Technician, Drafting Technician, Computer Assistant, and Office
Assistant.

establish a Center for Advanced Supramolecular and Nano Systems in
collaboration with The University of Montana-Missoula.
